Snow Day

Yesterday we woke up to 18 inches of snow here in Columbia. Notice what is visible of Lee's red car. Tom and I rotated 10 minute shifts, shoveling the driveway. It took us 4 hours. Where to put the snow was one challenge, lifting it was another. The bottom layer of snow consisted of about an inch and a half of water. What we shoveled would stick to the shovel which made the experience even more of a battle.

Lee and Nikie made cookies with Claudia (Lee's roommate) and Toby (our dog). I did take some time off to do some photography. The sky was perfectly blue, the sun was so bright and the patterns and shadows on the snow fascinated me.

Toby loved getting to stay in and relax too. He even got an early Christmas present. Since falling in love with my couch in my office...Santa brought him his own bed. When it was time to eat or go out to potty...He would not leave his new bed. Life had never been so good.

Nik and Lee cuddled him for quite a while. Otherwise he just ignored them and stayed on his pillow.

Today we were supposed to go to St. Louis, but opted last night to not take any chances. Instead we are staying in, making more cookies, watching football and playing with Toby. Tonight we are making fondue!

Notice the snow through the patio door is higher than Toby. You should have seen him try to walk through it! It was hystarical!

Nik just loves getting hugs from her baby! She takes advantage of every one she can get!
